In December we got to spend a special day with my little cousin Crystal, because she was turning 21 and I wanted it to be a celebration she would always remember. I spent my 21st birthday bar hopping in San Francisco (while I was living there in college) so when my good friend Becca offered us a great deal at her boutique hotel I knew we had to jump on it!
The Harbor Court Inn is on the Embarcadero which you can see from the Bay Bridge, when Becca checked us in she was kind enough to make sure we had the best view!
The lobby of the hotel is just as impressive, with its lounge area and a roaring fireplace to fight off the frosty Bay Area winds. In each room waiting for us were bottles of wine, which really added to the romantic atmosphere of the hotel. Harbor Court has done an amazing job renovating the building which was once an Army-Navy YMCA residence. The structure is almost a century old as it was built in 1926, but now its interior is the perfect blend of elegance and modernism.
Perry’s is a bar located just next door and where we started our evening as Becca knows some of the staff there as well. In the daytime she recommends it as a great place to grab a bite before heading up to your room. We also stopped at one our favorite hole-in-the wall bars from college called Tempest, which is still as loud as I remember.
It was nice to Uber back to the room and fall asleep to our view of the Bay Bridge peering back down at us through our window… and it was even nicer to be greeted by it again in the morning. We weren’t too hungover so we decided to grab some breakfast at the Farmer’s Market happening just across the street at the Ferry Building.
It made for a good morning walk for Kylo, my cousin and her boyfriend’s dog, who also got to stay at Harbor Court, as it is pet friendly. The hotel rents out bikes if you’d rather explore the city that way and begin your day with a nice ride.
Harbor Court provided us with the ideal stay in the city I once called home, and we’re all looking forward to the next time we’ll be back. Big thanks to Becca and the rest of the staff who made this a great experience!
Oh! Almost forgot, they also have a touch screen selfie machine on the wall to get that perfect group shot!
