Road Trippin: California’s Coast

Today was the day we set out on our road trip that we’ve been planning since Colombia.  Since Fabian took me to Miami for my birthday when we were in Florida, I wanted to take him some place special for his during his stay in California.  So, of course, my first idea was Disneyland!  But a trip to LA has turned into an awesome two week adventure.

From my hometown we made our way to the Highway 1 in our Avis rental.  We made a couple stops in Monterey and Carmel-By-The-Sea.

This route along the coast is perfect for any photographer thanks to all the gorgeous cliff views. Fabian plans on creating a series of the views we see in black and white.

About an hour down the road we came to the Bixby Bridge in Big Sur, a famous spot for photos and, nowadays, a whole lot of selfies.

Our next and last stop was Cambria, an adorable and quaint town I’ve visited with my family years ago… I’ve been dying to go back.  Most people stop here for Hearst Castle, next door in San Simeon, the home of tycoon, William Randolph Hearst.

Right before getting into San Simeon is a vista point to view the native elephant seals.  This is a must do for all passers by!  The beach is covered in tons of seals and you can get pretty close to them.

Tomorrow we’re making our way through Santa Barbara and into Ventura before getting down to Los Angeles, so check in with us again then!
